Parents, you’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

You are more than an A.

The value you hold in this world does not lie in a perfect score.

Your mental health matters more than perfect attendance.

If you fail an exam, you are still worthy.

Your intelligence is not determined by a standardized test.

I want you to work hard but play harder.

I want you to try your best and leave the rest, knowing that I am still proud of you if you fail.

Proud of you for giving it your best.

Proud of you for accepting the failure.

Proud of you for growing from the experience.

Proud of you for simply being my child.

I love you whether you stand at the top of the podium or cheer from the sidelines.

My love for you is not determined by an arbitrary score or your athletic ability.

I beam when you help those that are less fortunate.

I love hearing about how you include the outsiders.

Nothing brings me more joy than when someone comments on how fierce, sassy, yet kind and inclusive you are.

That is what matters to me.

This pandemic has reminded us that our children’s mental health is more important than a report card.

That how they treat others and reach out to the lonely is how they will leave their mark in this world.

This is what matters. Let's not forget it.
