I use to dress my first kid from top to bottom barrettes and ferly socks (it was 12 years ago...they were still in style). It wasn't until kindergarten when she asked me to dress herself...I dreaded it however it was the best decision ever. I called my mom dying, she wasn't matching I remember telling my mom!!!! She laughed and let me know that its battles like these we need to cherish, watch and enjoy. I did, and everyday after. I now have 3 kids as long as their teeth are brushed, hair is done I am okay. Let them enjoy that little bit of freedom (sometimes I lay out options for my son lol) but they enjoy it and when a big battle comes they are more likely to listen and understand. Its one fight I won't bother along with how they want to do things as long as it gets done in a timely manner. If hanging up your clothes requires music, dancing and singing I am all good as long as that shirt made it on the hanger.
Small things are nothing...and like my mom said I cherish them many years later I miss my oldest miss matching. However I got to experience new battles with each kid...I am learning to cherish ; ) !
