I love planning a party. I usually start conjuring up birthday party ideas months in advance. I remember a phone call to a friend in December (when my son was only 15 months old) that went a little like this:
Me: I didn’t think so, either. And, yeah, I called you because I needed someone on my side in case there were any objections, and I knew you would be.

My sweet husband kindly agreed (in December) to paint a football field for our son’s second birthday (in September).
As the day drew near, preparation was in full swing–invitations dreamed up, found and ordered; a custom jersey ordered; super simple menu planned out; custom pinata ordered; picking up things here and there that coordinated. Our office/art room looked like a football party threw up–I knew I was on the right track!
I was nervous about the transformation of the back yard, but my husband assured me he had it under control. And he did...
Yard markers, goal posts, "stands," we had it all!
The boy woke up from his nap, right on cue, and was ready to check out his field in his jersey.
Cupcakes, pinata, snacks, and football--so much fun to be had!
For those keeping score at home, the football party was a win!
