The nights are warm and the stars shine bright. What can you do with your family tonight? As parents we spend a lot of time thinking about what to do with our kids during the long summer days. But what about making magical memories once the sun sets on summer nights? Here are some of my favorite “bright” ideas for evening activities that will get glowing reviews from your kids, friends and family.
Glow in the Dark Bowling – Recycle your plastic water bottles and fill each with a different colored glow stick to create a game that will bowl the kids over! Use basketballs or soccer balls as your bowling ball.
Backyard Camp Out – Dust off your tent and set up camp in your own backyard. Make s’mores, tell ghost stories and sleep out in nature with the critters.
Driveway Drive-In Movie – Invite the neighbors to bring lawn chairs and snacks to share like popcorn and theater-themed candies. Project a family-friendly movie on the garage door and have some “reel” fun.
Groovy Glow Dance Party – Turn up the tunes, add some black lights & lots of glow sticks and let it glow! There’s nothing like an old-fashioned dance party to bring out the fun on a warm summer night.
Summer Night Sports – Light up the night with glow-in-the-dark balls for a game of flag football at the park, a soccer match at the field or a volleyball battle at the beach.
Super Stargazing – Remember the magic of being at camp and searching for star constellations? Re-create those memories with you kids by grabbing a picnic blanket, lying down on the grass and looking to the stars on a clear night.
Flashlight Tag – Kids can’t get enough of this nighttime hide-and-seek themed tradition. Grab your flashlights and get ready to go! Who’s “It”?
Family Fireside Chats - Reconnect as a family by enjoying the magical glow of a campfire, fire pit or beach bonfire. Roast marshmallows, share stories and most of all, spend time together. Isn't that what summertime is all about?
