There isn't much I want to hold onto from 2020. These three though, I'll hold onto them forever. We've spent a lot of time at home together, so it felt fitting to have family pictures taken right here at home where we have spent the greater part of this year.
My husband hates having pictures taken so we haven't had them done in over five years. When I told him all I wanted for our fifteenth wedding anniversary was family photos, he reluctantly agreed.
This year has been difficult, but one day when these boys are all grown up, I will look back at 2020 and feel grateful that we were given the gift of time together. It was what I can only refer to as the great pause. It was the year the simple things once again became the extraordinary. It was the year we spent cooking, watching movies, and running around our own yard. It was a year of great loss, but it was also the year of tremendous gain. Time is a gift.
If you have been putting off family photos, this is the year to just do it. Because one day they will be the reminder that during one of the hardest years of our lifetime, we had each other.
