I am in utter disbelief that it is almost November which, in my book, means the holiday season has begun! Cue the Christmas tunes and Hallmark Christmas movies! The kids will still be in their costumes when I take down all of our Halloween decorations. I am ready for this holiday season to begin. I like keeping things simple around the house for the next few weeks because the house is filled with Christmas decorations soon enough.
However, one thing I will be sure to do is get our thankful activity ready. Over the years I’ve tried various ‘gratitude’ activities and some have worked better than others.
I find that when we complicate the activity, we abandon it rather quickly. This family gratitude activity is about as easy as it gets! You can use a big chalkboard, a poster, a piece of paper. It doesn’t have to be fancy! Just be sure to display it where everyone in the family can see it.
Each day each family member writes down a thankful sentiment or note. For little ones that can’t write, an older sibling or parent can help them write their message. Be sure to have writing utensils handy!
At the end of the season, do not forget to take a picture of your thankful display. It’s nice to have record of what everyone wrote each year!
What do you do with your family to celebrate this season of gratitude?
