Self improvement will not bring you to self love.
You may be thinking: "how can you say that?!"
Because I’ve been down this road before: I improved my grades in school so I could feel successful. I worked on improving my body through exercise and diet to feel worthy. I’ve improved many skills to help me feel more competent and confident.
There’s nothing wrong with trying to improve. But self improvement didn’t address my core belief that I felt I needed to change or “get better” at these areas in order to feel successful, worthy, or confident. It didn’t help me to love myself more.
The key to self love is SELF ACCEPTANCE.
When you’re able to accept who you are, right now. This is when you start loving yourself. Love is accepting and appreciating the whole, light and dark. Perfect and imperfect.
This road isn’t always easy, but it’s so worth it. I decided to start doing this for myself, and this baby inside of me reminds me daily to keep going no matter what, and also shows me how much I’ve achieved and grown in my self love journey.
No matter where you are or what you’re going through, you are worthy. You are precious. You are loved.
