September 11, 2001, taught us that:
Americans are resilient
Americans are kind
Americans are courageous
Americans are noble
Americans are empathetic
Americans are tough
Americans are forgiving
Americans are helpful
Americans are color-blind
Americans are faithful
Americans are loyal
Americans are compassionate
Americans are generous
Americans are fearless
Are there Americans that are not these things?
Yes.
9/11 proved, however, that they are the minority.
9/11 proved that we are greater than our differences. That we are greater because of our differences. And lastly, that our differences do not prevent us from being great.
Let us leave this as the legacy for our children when we speak about 9/11.
