Most days the magical moments we experience as parents are hard to notice; we have to look for them. Other days, we find our eyes open to them.

Perfect and imperfect ~

They surround us ~ these moments ~ and we often find that we look to them to hold us up.

Perfect and imperfect ~

We need them. They help us define who we are; they force us to see what is really important.

Perfect and imperfect ~

On the days when life is heavy, they lighten the load. Woven into every part of our life, they help fill in the pieces that are sometimes missing.

Perfect and imperfect ~ they are beautiful.

Motherhood is defining. We look to that title to show the world who we are. We hold onto it when we need to feel love and acceptance. When it seems like everything and everyone else is against us, being a mom is sometimes the only thing that seems right.

Perfect and imperfect ~

It is messy and hard and sometimes downright exhausting; but those moments pass, and what’s left are the smiles, the laughter, and the overwhelming feelings of joy.

Perfect and imperfect ~

When all we feel is failure and defeat, we are reminded that there are many parts of the wrong things that are really quite right.

Perfect and imperfect ~

The right things — like a note on an office whiteboard, looking back at us when we are least expecting it. Filling our heart and soul with an unexplainable amount of joy.

The right things — like snuggling on Sunday mornings while waiting for the pancakes to be done and feeling like our family is the center of the universe.

Perfect and imperfect ~

The right things — like a silly string war in the front yard, reminding us of what it’s like to be a child, free of the pressures and the weight of the adult world.

Finding your kids snuggling under the covers in bed reading to each other while their arms and legs are intertwined.

Perfect and imperfect ~

All of those moments that make us so proud of the life we are living.

There are so many beautiful reasons to be happy.

Being a mom is truly the Most Magnificent Thing.
