The only thing you SHOULD do in 2023: Stay true to yourself

“You should,” they said.

“You should take the next year and make it your best one yet.

But not like that.

You shouldn’t do it like that.”

“You should,” they said.

“You should be “over” the pandemic by now and stop blaming the COVID pandemic for any of your shortcomings or lingering anxiety.

But don’t deal with it like that.

You shouldn’t do it like that.”

“You should,” they said.

“You should eat healthier, stay in better shape, and just look better overall.

But don’t get to that version of yourself like that.

You shouldn’t do it like that.”

“You should,” they said.

“You should work harder. You’re not working hard enough.

But don’t work too hard.

You shouldn’t do that.”

“You should,” they said.

“You should be more mindful.

But don’t be too zen ‘cause that make people uncomfortable.

And you shouldn’t do that.”

“You should,” they said.

You should cut yourself some slack.

But not like that.

You shouldn’t slack off.”

“You should,” I say.

“You should stop listening to other people.

But you should listen to yourself.

You should do that.”

RESOLUTION FOR 2023 - Remember daily that the only thing I “should” do is stay true to myself.
