Today my 8 year old son woke up, came up to me and draped himself across my lap. I moved my laptop aside and scratched his head for a minute.
He didn’t move. He said “that feels good mom can you keep doing that for a minute?” I did.
I had been working since 7am so I took a quick break to sit with my boy.
He wasn’t playing video games, fighting with his brothers or eating every bit of food we have in the house like usual.
He was quietly enjoying a minute with mom. Just breathing.
On a typical morning, we are always rushed to get out the door and get everyone where they need to be on time.
Rushed. Moving fast. Multitasking. Remembering details. Not stopping to breathe.
This is not a typical morning. This is not a typical time. Parenting from home. Working from home. Attempting to homeschool. Quarantining. Balancing. Navigating the unknown.
None of this is easy.
Ya know what is easy?
Quietly enjoying a minute with my boy.
Scratching his head.
Breathing.
Appreciating.
Smiling.
Having Faith.

Stop. And breathe.
This too shall pass.
