If this year has taught me anything it’s that we can’t avoid the struggle.
We can prepare, and worry, and plan but our world can still come crumbling down around us, and in ways we least expected.
I’ve learned that I can do without some things,
and some things, I cannot.
I’ve learned that those “things” I couldn’t do without, were not actually things at all.
They are the things that no money could buy and no pandemic could take away.
I’ve learned that simple is all we really needed all along.
I’ve learned that I am stronger than I thought.
I’ve learned that strangers will help strangers.
There are always people that will show up.
Loving people always find a way to love.
I’ve learned there is solid truth to the phrase, “This too shall pass.”
I’ve learned that curbside saves lives.
Ok maybe not actual LIVES, but my sanity for sure.
Technology is amazing and I will never take it for granted again.
I would not have survived a pandemic 20 years ago. Period.
I’ve learned that there is no amount of social distancing that will stop a teacher from connecting with their students.
I’ve learned that doctors and nurses are superheroes.
This year has proven that kids are indeed resilient.
They will bounce back.
And they will remind us how to laugh.
I’ve learned that backyard kiddie pools can provide hours of laughter.
That Santa shows up to zoom meetings.
And I should never pass on the opportunity to stock up on TP.
I’ve learned that some relationships can withstand distance and some...cannot.
I’ve learned that some relationships can withstand disagreeing and some...cannot.
But most of all, this year has taught me to plan but laugh when plans fall apart.
I’ve learned a lot this year, but peace out 2020.
