I was recently at an event where I was asked

"What's the one thing that motherhood has taught you."

Phew!! That's a loaded question if I've ever heard one...I mean how can we put into one concise word or sentence something so profound? But after I pondered the question I thought of as wide of an answer as I could so I could explain the all - encompassing meaning of it.

My answer is this: Everything.

Motherhood has taught me everything. It's taught me about unconditional love. About patience. About fear. About celebration. About failure. About strength. About gratitude. About perseverance. About support. About understanding. About acceptance. About perspective. About truth. About guidance. About loss. About happiness.

About Everything.

Because when you become a mother, your world changes. Everything you thought you knew is heightened by a gazillion. You want to know more, to learn more, to be the best person you can be so you can teach your children all the things. So you can give them opportunity. You want to be someone they are proud of.

My children teach me new things everyday. The constantly astound me with their differences and similarities. They test my will like no other. They are the reason for my every breath. They are my why.

Their existence would not be possible without my own mother, who I am beyond grateful for. For teaching me how to be a good human.
Their existence would not be possible without my husband for being the person I chose to create our humans with.

Being a mother is the hardest job on the planet and even on it's worst days, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Happy Mother's Day to every single one of you for doing what you do every day for your kids. For your love and guidance. For your support and encouragement. For being the best mom on the planet.

I appreciate you.
I love you.
