When was the last time you felt satisfied with your life?
I’m serious.
A couple of weeks ago, I volunteered in my son’s kindergarten classroom and offered a mini-lesson on contentment.
It was painfully convicting.
The most common responses from the kids when asked about what they were thankful for?
“Mom” and “my house”.
My new identity as a stay-at-home mother was activated and it whispered the following three words:
You are enough.
And, yet, we are entering the seemingly unending season of distraction…and comparison.
But, I think our littles have some pretty fantastic advice:
Stop obsessing over your waistline.
Stop laboring over the perfect fall mantle.
Stop telling yourself that you suck as a mother.
Because every minute we waste in that defeated thinking robs us of the love we were made to give.
So, if you’re already feeling a little behind or tired in this season, what I want to offer is this:
Happiness is what we do with what we have.
So, put on those yoga pants.
Throw up a messy bun.
And snuggle close to the living, breathing blessings in your life.
