Was chatting with another parent about her frustration with not being able to have “nice things” in her home due to her Autistic Child’s behavior.

I went through years of this as well and even now that my son is an adult it’s still a problem, but over the years I’ve found a few ways that helped:

FIRST
I stopped buying expensive frames, vases and decor for two reasons;
A- was because there was a 90% chance it would be broken
B- was because when these items did break I was furious. (And that didn’t help the situation)

SECOND
I started buying second hand home decor from thrift stores 😬😂 something I had never done in the past but now love doing!
I see the potential, make it over the way I want... (thanks Pinterest;) and have something beautiful that matches the space.

Not only super cheap....
I’m not as upset if it’s most likely damaged!
It’s been incredibly THERAPEUTIC and something that I can unwind doing.

The other thing that’s helped a lot is “GLUE DOTS”
Literally every frame, vase, lamp, etc, is secured with glue dots!
Every picture frame has been thrown and the glass broken (I just left it that way🙄 - might replace with plexi glass one day)
but just adding the glue dots has made a huge difference. They are really strong and Give him a second to think twice before trying to throw one on a whim when having a hard time.

I’ve also stared using them on all my wall hanging picture frames...way harder to take off the wall, but also won’t damage it;)

Hope this helps!
Share what’s worked for you guys;)
