Oh sweet girls, will you remember when the world stood still?
Will you remember the tense looks exchanged between adults, the uncertainty of the day to day?
Will you remember your beloved playgrounds and parks closed with caution tape, a constant reminder that things weren’t what they always were?
Will you remember people wearing masks and gloves in the stores we once frequented with ease?
Will you remember the abrupt end of preschool and the separation from your family and friends, not really understanding the reason why?
Or will you remember the frequent family movie nights, complete with popcorn and snuggles?
Will you remember the time we spent playing silly games and making crafts with any material available because let’s face it Mommy isn’t the most creative?
Will you remember spending the most time that we probably ever have all together, talking, playing, reading, joking and occasionally getting on each other’s nerves?
Will you remember learning how to fly a kite for the very first time, your determination to keep it in the air? The giggles and joy when the kite successfully glided overhead?
Will you remember our impromptu dance parties that seemed even more essential than usual, due to the drastic contrast with the outside world?
You may not remember any of this, you may remember all of it. But more than likely you will remember a mixture of it all, the good and the bad. The fear and the joy. The tension and the love.
Oh sweet girls, will you remember when the world stood still?
