Or just as likely, we’ve got questions and you’ve got answers.

Yes, My Husband Will Buy My Pads and Tampons. No, He is Not Embarrassed.

Last night my husband ran to the store for me to pick up some sanitary products. He made a comment about another woman being in the aisle with him.

And it got me thinking about how many men are too embarrassed to help their spouse/girlfriend/daughter out by purchasing them some much-needed hygiene items. And, frankly, it ticked me off.

I get it. Girls have cooties. Eww, grooooossss. But now we are in our 30s and 40s, so get a frickin’ grip.

As my husband said, “I don’t mind. It means I’ve got some sort of female in my life.” He’s so right. Shopping for pads and tampons is actually something you should be proud of, but so many men refuse to do so. I think it’s ridiculous.

I liken it to shopping for condoms. So many people palm the box so no one can see what they’re buying and keep it on the DL, refusing to even make eye-contact with the cashier. Not me. Buying condoms means I am gettin’ some, so I’ll hold that box over my head like John Cusack with a boombox on the way to the register. Hollaaaa!

And our oldest daughter is now a tween in the throes of puberty herself. When Aunt Flo makes a visit, it’s a family reunion, so she needs these items, as well. Dads, are you going to make your tweenager feel that becoming a woman is something she should feel ashamed about? This is an awkward time for her anyway, don’t make her do this alone. Go get her what she needs and be grateful that she trusts her daddy will always take care of her. It’s seriously not a big deal. This is a chance for you to step it up and look like a hero.

There are exactly zero reasons the men in our lives shouldn’t help us out when it comes to our “monthly.” We’re already bleeding out, cramped like our insides are in a vice, and irritated with life in general. So strap on a pair, run to the store if we need you to, and grab us what we need.

And pick up a gallon of ice cream while you’re at it.
