Yesterday, my newborn son looked deep into my eyes, and I asked for his heart.
Today, my son will look into the eyes of the girl of his dreams and ask for her hand.

Yesterday, I rocked my son to sleep in the dark silence of the night.
Today, my son will get on bended knee and propose to his soulmate in the glistening sun.

Yesterday, my son flashed his first grin, and my insides soared.
Today, my son will smile at his best friend as love flutters in his soul.

Yesterday, my son took his first tentative steps toward my open arms.
Today, my son will take a confident leap toward the open arms of his future wife.

Yesterday, my son waved goodbye to me while heading into his first day of kindergarten.
Today, my son will wave goodbye to me with a beautiful fiance on his arm.

Yesterday, my son ran around the soccer field as I clapped and cheered.
Today, my son will offer a ring, and I will fend off tears and champion him from within.

Yesterday, my son got behind the wheel for the first time, and I let him go into God’s hands.
Today, my son will get behind God’s love and let Him guide his future plans.

Yesterday, my son walked across a stage to receive a diploma.
Today, my son will walk up to his girl and give away his heart.

Yesterday, my son was a little boy who filled my soul with light and purpose.
Today, he is a man who will fill my future daughter-in-law with all his love and devotion.

Yesterday, I never wanted my first born son to grow up and leave my side.
Today, I can’t wait to see his new life unfold as he joins his light with his soon to be bride.

(I wrote this earlier this morning, to capture my emotions before joining our son in his proposal celebration. She said, “yes,” and our hearts are overflowing with love and joy. We love you to the furthest moon, Emily Loomis and John Spear)
