You thought you were just doing your job, Mama.
I saw you cleaning up my mess. I am learning to feed myself, and Mama, I tried my best. You came over and laughed at the yogurt on my chin. I watched as you soaked up the spilled milk and gently wiped my face. You thought you were just doing your job, but I felt loved by you.
I saw you laughing with my big sister. She was twirling and spinning around. I followed her around, mimicking her every move. You picked up your camera to record the memory. You thought you were just doing your job, but I felt treasured by you.
I saw you dancing with Daddy. Dinner was simmering on the stove. He walked in and played your favorite song, so you stopped stirring that pot and wrapped you arms around him. You thought you were just doing your job, but I saw you loving my Daddy.
I saw you folding the laundry. There were piles of clothes and I wanted to help so I threw them around the room. You gathered them up and had to redo them. You thought you were just doing you job, but I saw you patiently letting me learn.
I laughed as you scrubbed my toes. The bath was warm and the soap smelled so nice. You thought you were just doing your job, but I felt cared for by you.
You wrapped me into my towel and dug my pajamas out of one of those piles of laundry. You read me a story and put me to bed. It was the best day I ever had. You thought you were just doing your job, but I felt secure with you.
Everyday I watch you, Mama. I learn so much from you. I know it’s a lot of work for you, but when you’re doing your job I am learning about life.
You thought you were just doing your job, Mama, but I felt loved by you.
