As much as my days with my little ones are filled with precious moments, bedtime is the cornerstone of our routine. I just need to know that regardless of what kind of craziness happens after we all wake up in the morning, I can have a good ending to the day. It's essential to my sanity, and a sweet bedtime can wipe away any less than fortunate shenanigans we may have encountered earlier in the afternoon.

Getting a good night’s sleep also makes me less anxious, and my little ones are so much sunnier during the day when they have enough rest, so it’s worth making a priority!

When I was pregnant with my first daughter, I honestly didn't get bedtime. I was completely clueless, and thought that babies liked to sleep (I mean, who doesn't?), and they would just drift off when you laid them down in their cute little cribs. I had no idea what I was getting into, and after three incredibly sleep deprived weeks with a newborn, when I was at my wit's end, I read about bedtime routines and their importance when it comes to getting baby to sleep. My heart sank, because I thought I was too late. The first three weeks of motherhood can feel like years, and I thought I had missed the bedtime boat.

I really didn’t think it would make a difference and in my new mama bubble I thought sleep was a far and distant memory, but I started trying to implement a routine anyway. To my surprise and delight our nights improved drastically. We worked on a system, and six years in, we still place a priority on bedtime and making it consistent and it has paid off for all our little ones. We follow the same routine JOHNSON'S has clinically proven: first, a relaxing bath (love the JOHNSON'S moisture baby wash - that smell is the sweetest!) followed by a massage and snuggly pajamas, and then cuddle time in the chair to read books, snuggle, sing, and say prayers before getting tucked into bed.

Snuggle time is the best, and I love getting to smell Ellie's freshly bathed little head!

Having a routine also makes it SO much easier when you are traveling or if you have a sitter; the little ones know what to expect and know the cue to fall asleep, which makes everyone (especially me!) feel more relaxed and confident. I love having JOHNSON'S as a part of our tuck tuck time, and I know the sweet calming scent will be one that I'll always treasure, as well as the sweet snuggles!
