I enjoy the work in politics. I became very active in politics in my early 30's first an an unelected single mom - I forced the change of child support laws in my state so that the state could no longer charge a fee for child support collection. Then I was elected to the State House two years later. I campaigned door to door of course, I literally had a snacks and toys bag under one arm and a Campaign bag under the other. My son would ride his bike along with me. I did not let him go to the door - that as on me. After serving in the Legislative Session, I came home and that Fall my son started school. Women were awful, I had no idea people could be so petty. I

mean as a single mother, you get judged twice as hard. Everything from your appearance, to your behavior is fair game. I just had no idea that difference of opinion in politics would translate to my child. He was treated so badly we had to move, Today he is a fine young man. He has no memory of anything but honestly my advice is unless Single Mothers are more appreciated and respected the community will hurt. Would I change anything No, because my son told me his best assets are his resourcefulness and his confidence, he said he learned them from me.
