I know a young child who swallowed his words
I don't know why he swallowed the words
To speak one day?
I hope he'll try
I know a young child who swallowed his pride
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside
He swallowed the pride to hide the words
But I don't know why he swallowed the words
To speak one day?
I hope he'll try
I know a young child who swallowed some doubt
How absurd to swallow some doubt
He swallowed the doubt to accompany the pride
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside
He swallowed the pride to hide the words
But I don't know why he swallowed the words
To speak one day?
I hope he'll try
I know a young child who swallowed his faith
Imagine that. He swallowed his faith
He swallowed his faith to chase the doubt
He swallowed the doubt to catch the pride
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside
He swallowed the pride to hide the words
But I don't know why he swallowed his words
To speak one day?
I hope he'll try
I know a young child who swallowed some pain
It makes me insane that he swallowed pain
He swallowed the pain 'cause he lost his faith
He swallowed the faith to chase the doubt
He swallowed the doubt to catch the pride
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside
He swallowed the pride to catch the words
But I don't know why he swallowed the words
To speak one day?
I hope he'll try
I know a sweet mama whose son swallowed her whole
Opened his throat and down she did go
He swallowed his mom to help fight the pain
He swallowed the pain 'cause he lost his faith
He swallowed the faith to chase the doubt
He swallowed the doubt to catch the pride
That wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside
He swallowed the pride to catch the words
But I don't know why he swallowed the words
To speak one day?
I hope he'll try
I know a sweet mama whose son does now speak
And that's thanks to his mother who is the antithesis of weak
When he swallowed his mom to help fight the pain --
the pain that he swallowed 'cause he lost his faith
the faith that he swallowed to chase the doubt
the doubt that he swallowed to catch the pride that wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside,
and that pride he swallowed to catch the words --
his mama found those words and gave them to him, and she continues to help him use them
EVERY.
SINGLE.
DAY.
I know an incredible mom who in the eyes of her child is such an admirable force.
She's alive and well, of course.
