I had to do this video over three times because the first two times I burst into tears.
It's hard to think about not being back in the classroom with this group of students. Teachers go to work every day with other people's kids and it doesn't take long before they feel like your own. You love them and care for them and correct them and guide them and encourage them and teach them and worry about them and think about them and look forward to seeing them...
And that has been suddenly taken away from us and them, too. It's okay to be sad about this. It's okay to mourn the things that won't happen or that have been taken away. Because it IS sad. It is hard.
But teachers will do what we always do...
We will show up. We will do hard things. We will look for opportunities. We will make the best out of it until it is better. We will pull together with our teams. We will find solutions. We will find a way to make it all come together. We will be innovative. We will excel.
We will make sure every child still knows that we're their teacher and we haven't gone anywhere. We're still here rooting for you and caring for you from afar.
Because we're teachers and that's what we do.
Our classroom may have changed, but we're still the same.
